At least 6 people, including 4 minors, shot Wednesday in western Fort Worth, police say

Multiple people, including children, were wounded in a shooting Wednesday in the western part of Fort Worth, police officials said.

Fort Worth police spokesman Bradley Perez told reporters Wednesday night there were six gunshot victims; the oldest is 19 years old and the youngest is 3 years old. Police confirmed Thursday that four of the victims were minors.

The shooting occurred in the 3600 block of Las Vegas Trail, near Camp Bowie West Boulevard, the Fort Worth Police Department said in a post on X.

Those shot were outside the location when a vehicle drove by. Officials believe either one person or multiple people inside the vehicle began firing at the victims. Investigators are still determining a motive, Perez said, and officers are following leads to track the suspect vehicle.

”It’s a sad situation,” chief Neil Noakes told reporters. “Anytime you have people who [are] out trying to enjoy the evening and violence, senseless violence, like this erupts in our city, it’s concerning to all of us.”

Noakes said the shooting “makes me sick to my stomach” knowing that children were among those wounded.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, though Noakes said officials don’t anticipate any further danger to the community.

Five people with gunshot wounds were transported to a hospital by MedStar, spokesman Matt Zavadsky said just after 9 p.m. One person was in critical condition and one was in serious condition, Zavadsky said. The other victims have minor injuries.

A police call log noted that the first officers arrived at the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m. At least 30 units responded to the location. The call log states the shooting occurred at an apartment.

No additional details were immediately available.
